what’s at the core of your pain?


 

Whenever I allow myself the grace to sit with my frustration, my sorrow, my anger, or anything that’s overwhelming me I’m always amazed at how it’s the same small creature behind it all:

fear.

Fear is a master of disguise and distortion and the deeper we go into our awareness of self the more we can see fear for what it is. But fear can be misunderstood… Fear is about protection, and it is important. Fear is often talked about like something to be avoided and made into the enemy but we need to feel fear in our lives because it gives us messages. It’s up to us to learn to decipher those messages clearly because we don’t always need to obey fear but we do need to see it and acknowledge it.

Easier. Said. Than. Done.

None of us can always handle things perfectly, and perfection doesn’t exist either (perfectionism is one of the greatest disguises fear takes). As we go through life and encounter ourselves  enacting patterns that don’t serve us we usually either ignore those warnings within or acknowledge them but beat ourselves up so much that we can’t be proactive or create a better experience for all involved.

Acceptance is the path.

This doesn’t mean letting yourself do anything but acceptance asks us to see with full compassion and awareness how we think feel and behave at any instance and to own up to it fully. This cannot be accomplished with shame and anger directed at the self… this is done with gentleness and the love of the Universe. Acceptance allows us to transform through a shameless seeing of self and only then can we change whatever may need to change. 

Through receiving Reiki we can connect with this universal force of love, learn to bring awareness to our spiritual body, and softly acknowledge our pains, our faults, and move towards a radical acceptance of self that becomes the foundation for true transformation and growth as we allow it.
